Upcoming Events of 2025

With the return of Spring, the club is running back to the regular schedule of rides, both Sundays and Wednesdays (as of Wednesday 23rd April), but it also means the committee have been busy in the background working out the events for the year ahead. There’s is plenty going on as you will read.

Other activities outside of DVCC

There are several activities being planned that are not organised by the club, but which, with our support, use DVCC to advertise the event to members. This is primarily to encourage social interaction throughout the club. These include:

Anthony Nolan fundraiser by Steve Eccles (Round Table) on 4th Good luck to all the DVCC riders taking part.

Golf Days – these will start again shortly.

Skiing – details to follow but hopefully a ski trip in early March 2026 can be arranged.

Café suggestions

We have also added a “Café suggestions” page to the website, where members can share cycle friendly coffee stops.

New Member Recruitment

To encourage new members, we have updated the DVCC promotional flyer, kindly sponsored by DOER Cycles. We will be delivering to the newer housing developments in the area. If you can help deliver leaflets, please contact Adrian or me. As last year we will be encouraging members to “bring a mate in May”, but you are always welcome to bring along potential new members.

Sunday 27th April: Grand Fondo

We have to have longer “Grand Fondo ride on Sunday 27th April,  and intend to do the same again the autumn. This will be on a Sunday replacing the normal Sunday rides, with a shorter route for those not looking to ride the full 100km distance.

Sunday 18th May: Club 9th Birthday Ride

Our annual birthday ride, which will be an extended Sunday ride ending at a local pub. Details to be confirmed.

Sunday 20th July: Summer BBQ

Colin has kindly invited us back to his home in Stebbing for our annual BBQ.

5th/6th September (tbc): Away weekend

Following the success of the Bury St Edmunds weekend, Ewan has kindly offered to organise another “member led” weekend away, this time in Norfolk.

Saturday 13th September: Colchester Cycleway

We are hoping to have another trip to Colchester Cycleway, this time in daylight, to practice our cycling skills away from the public road.
